Historic and Food event - Ferrero

Scientific researches have proven that our senses are influenced by their surrounding like colors, shapes, smells and sound. Therefore, three spaces (10 x 10 m boxes) have been designed, within each of them the same food will be tasted but accordingly to the researches it will taste differently. The first space is all red without any edges and out off soft material to enhance the sweet taste of the food. The second space is a green tubular installation representing an abstract grass landscape to enhance the fresh and salty taste. The last space is out of horizontally extruded wooden boards which, thank to their color and material, promote the bitter taste.
The exterior of the spaces is covered by mirrors so that they reflect the villa and don't interfere with its historical architecture. Consequently, the exterior doesn't give price anything of the interior and the visitor will find a totally unexpected space installation in each of the boxes and thereby undergoe a surprise experience when entering the tasting rooms. This surprise experience follows the surprise approach of the Ferrero company (cf. the surprise egg, nuts or creamy fillings in the pralines) and builds the connecting elements between Ferrero and the space design.

The market located in the western part of the villa offers regional food specialties of Italy. This installation takes into consideration the overall topic of the event and the Expo which is 'feeding the planet' including food cultures and traditions in general. The structure of the market follows the same design idea of the three tasting rooms but instead of mirrors, grass is used to cover the exterior of it. That means, while facing the west side of the villa the market looks like an extruded grass surface which enlarges the park of the villa but doesn't interfere with the villa itself.

The last part of the project is the Ferrero Rocher bistro located in the Limonaia. It's design is an approach to visualize the iconic ferrero rocher praline of the company in an abstract and ironic way. Therefore, the whole bistro is kept in white and gold and an oversized Ferrero Rocher seating booth has been designed to represent 'the luxurious' praline.
